I was really confused when I started getting all this dust building up around my household.
I always changed the air filters and I even used the high quality air filters.
I also had a powerful air purification system in my home, so I didn’t understand where all the dust was coming from. When I had my brother over at my house one day, he was shocked by the awful air quality. He asked me when I changed my air filter last and I told him it was recent. He actually had to check the air filter to believe me and then he saw the air filter really was fresh. Then he said it was likely the ductwork. So we peeked in one of the HVAC vents and sure enough, it was dirty as ever inside the ductwork! He then said that definitely was the problem and I would have to contact the HVAC company to have my ductwork cleaned out. I asked him if I could just vacuum everything out on my own. My brother explained that you actually need special tools to properly clean out the ductwork system and the HVAC technicians definitely knew what they were doing. He figured it was possible to do the job on my own but I wouldn’t get all the dirt that was trapped inside the ductwork. So I just gave in and called up the HVAC company and had them clean everything out from the ductwork. I even saw the before and after pictures and it made me feel sick how nasty the ductwork was. I think sometime down the road I will want to invest in a ductless HVAC system.
