My baby was born six weeks early

I took a cool shower and laid down on the bed so I could feel the air conditioning blow over me

It seemed that every time I turned around I was having a heat flash. I think that was the worst part, and I told the doctor but he said it was normal. He said to adjust the thermostat and stand closer to the air vents. I was also having what they referred to as Braxton-Hicks which is a fancy term for false labor. My husband wanted to give me a pick me up and he took me to our favorite hotel for a weekend. We knew it was going to be our last getaway until the baby was older. I was looking forward to going away for a couple of days and I packed several pretty maternity dresses that I had only worn once. As soon as I got into the hotel room, my husband adjusted the thermostat so I wasn’t uncomfortable. I got a cool shower and dressed up for dinner. I had been having some cramping while in the shower, but I thought it was false labor. We went to dinner and it was so hot in the restaurant that I could barely eat. Even though they gave me a seat near the air vents, I was still ‘uncomfortable. The cramping had stopped, but the heat flashes were getting worse. By the time we got up to the room, I felt like I was on fire. I took a cool shower and laid down on the bed so I could feel the air conditioning blow over me. I left out a scream and my husband was already calling the doctor. Eighteen minutes later, I gave birth to a beautiful little boy whom we named after the EMT who showed up at the hotel..
