I can’t afford to install radiant heating

My wife doesn’t understand it when I tell her that I can’t afford something.

She calls me cheap and tells me that I just don’t want to buy it for her.

Then she will pout for a while until I finally give in. The last couple of months she had been complaining about the furnace in the house. I knew that we needed a new furnace and I was waiting to find one that we could afford. She told me that she didn’t want just any kind of furnace, but she wanted radiant heating for the house. I looked into radiant heating when I first started looking for new heating for the house. I knew there was no way we were going to be able to afford to purchase this type of heating. After two weeks of hearing her constant nagging about radiant heating, I broke. I told her that we couldn’t afford it on just my salary. I left my wife know that if she was willing to get out of the house and get a job, we may be able to afford radiant heating. I knew she was angry at me because she walked away without saying a word. My wife was a college grad and she had her master’s in teaching. I understood her wanting to be home when the twins were pre-school, but now they were in second grade. Two weeks later, she told me that she had gotten a job teaching in the same school our girls were in. At the moment it was substitute, but she was pretty much guaranteed steady work since none of the teachers had had any personal time off in more than three years.
