The winter, where I live, is an elemental part of the experience.
- There is just no way around it.
The winter lasts nearly six months. The first snow is on the ground before Thanksgiving and the HVAC furnace keeps grinding until mid April. If you don’t embrace long winters, it is probably not the spot for you. There is certainly a big commitment level that comes with making a home in this part of the world. I was born into this way of life so, I have the advantage of that being normal to me. However, I have seen and experienced other parts of the world. But, I still make my home here. I love the people, the culture and the natural beauty of this place. I also, quite frankly, love the winter weather. The snow is something that never gets old to me. Granted, it can make getting around more difficult. Yet, it also makes for a great reason to stay home with family in the HVAC comfort of our home. We heat our current home with a state of the art furnace which does a really good job. Of course, we make sure that our HVAC is professionally serviced twice a year to keep it in excellent working order. While we love the furnace, we are going in a different direction for our next heating method. The kids will all be out of the house before too long so my husband and I are planning to build a smaller home for just the two of us. We have decided to employ a geothermal HVAC system to heat that house. The efficiency of the unit is simply unparalleled.
