Able to detect things wrong in the building air quality

For a long time our building control system was just handling the lighting, plumbing and HVAC all on its own.

The smart building had everything on a timer that I did not worry about.

Lights came on when I walked into a room and the HVAC powered off when I left. Recently I went over to the control pad and noticed my smart building was giving me alerts. BAS is great for monitoring a building and saving energy. However, another portion of getting a building management system is to also have it fix issues before getting humans involved or alert the user of issues that are problematic. Recently the control pad for my smart building was letting me know that there were issues in my indoor air quality. Too dry of air quality is easily handled by the smart building by adding moisture. Dust in the air quality is easily resolved by purifying it. The pressure and chemical sensors with my smart building were detecting unusual amounts of carbon monoxide in the building. This is a tasteless, odorless and colorless gas that can slowly poison a person. Prolonged exposure leads to hospitalization and even death in certain cases. I noticed the amount was rather small. I checked out our heating equipment and there was nothing wrong with the component. I then realized that the company underneath mine uses a gas furnace. I realized that their heating equipment had sprung a leak and was infecting my space’s indoor air quality. I immediately let them know about the issue and was able to tell when they fixed it by my control unit.
