I do my best, but sometimes I fail

I unquestionably like to maintain things around the beach house myself whenever possible.

  • It’s just 1 of those things that I’ve always liked.

I unquestionably like trying my hand at figuring things out for myself. I’m also unquestionably cheap and I honestly hate paying other people to maintenance things for me, and last month when the outdoor weather first started cooling off after the summertime ended, I tried to turn the massive central heating system on for the first time, but nothing happened when I turned the indoor temperature up on the thermostat. I had recently been able to maintain our own busted cooling system a few months before that by watching a whole bunch of online how-to videos that I found and reading some instructional blogs on an HVAC website. I was pretty darn proud of myself, to be honest, when I was able to get our broken down central air conditioning system fully back up and running again on 1 of the hottest nights of the year. I was pretty gleeful about the whole ordeal. I started thinking of myself as a regular Mr. Fix It. But of course, that feeling was honestly rather short lived when this whole heating system fiasco started. I was beyond determined to learn how to maintain the oil furnace myself, just like I had fixed the cooling system unit weeks earlier… but it turned out that the gas furnace was way more complicated than the little air conditioning component had been.I needed to call an actual HVAC professional to come and repair the heating system for me.
