I don’t want to sound as though I am complaining.
This past year has been far tougher on others than it has been on me.
The pandemic forced so many of us inside the security of our air conditioned homes. But we were really the lucky ones because there are so many individuals and families that are dealing with loss due to Covid. I’m dealing with the loss of my job and my apartment because of the effects of the pandemic. However, I had a great landing spot. Giving up the apartment was tough. For a person not too far out of college, that is giving up a great deal of making it on one’s own. However, the inferior heating and cooling will not be missed. The heater in the place just wasn’t enough when it got really cold. Conversely, the air conditioning was just the worst when it came to cooling during the summer heat. So, I tried to look at the bright side as I packed up and moved back in with my parents. Yet, I still have a bit of independence even back at home with the folks. My dad and I took the opportunity to finish off the basement. We added a ductless mini split heating and cooling unit down there as well. It’s like its own really nice apartment. Once I’m back on my feet, I bet my folks could even supplement their income by bringing in a renter. Until then, I’ll sure be enjoying the wonderful HVAC comfort here at home with my folks.
