I have a friend who decided to hightail it out of our city.
I have lived in this city for over thirty years, and I do not have plans to leave it, mostly because just about all the other cities in this state are more costly than here.
I am seriously interested in semi-retiring in 2025, so I can’t be moving anywhere more costly, that’s for sure. Anyway, my friend didn’t love all that, and he moved to the most western state in the union! He lives in this beautiful city, and it has amazing weather. In fact, it is most famous for its weather, and he has stopped using air conditioner altogether. In addition, he almost never needs the heating, either! He and I were on a video call the other afternoon, and he seems so much happier than he used to. He admited to myself and others that he has entirely no need for air conditioner or the furnace whatsoever. At this point, all he ever turns on are the ceiling fans in the summer time and a couple of space heating systems in the winter. I cannot even imagine such a thing. When you grow up in the southeast, your air conditioner is like your best friend – you wouldn’t even guess of going through life without it. It makes him genuinely cheerful, though, because he says he spends most of the year with open windows and even leaves the back door open most of the time. He has a screen door and when he leaves the back door open, the breeze blowing through is like Mother nature’s air conditioner.
