Back when I was in college, I used to think that I was so smart.
I mean, all of the people who were going to trade school or technical school after high school didn’t seem to know what they were doing.
Most of them didn’t seem like they had a career path set out or like they wanted to do very much with their lives. However, now that I am a grown adult and I’m still trying to pay off all of my college loans, I realize that those guys were a whole lot smarter than me! One of my old high school buddies went to technical school to get his HVAC certification and he’s doing really great. He decided right after school that he wanted to go to technical school to get his heating and cooling certification because he wasn’t really interested in going to college like I was planning on doing. I guess he didn’t want to have to worry about school loans and things like that. I thought that was silly at the time because we thought that everyone who was anyone at that point needed to go to a college or university. It turned out that this wasn’t actually true at all. As a matter of fact, I think that my friend is smarter than I am at this point. He is a very successful HVAC technician and he’s thinking about opening up his own commercial heating and cooling company here in town. I, on the other hand, still have to pay off a whole lot of student loans and I’m having trouble finding a job at all with the major that I chose.
