I worked for close to 30 years in the hospitality business.
There were all these hotels while in my tenure and I can hardly get them all straight these days.
But one thing that they all were able to provide were cramped office spaces with the most horrible heating and cooling comfort. There were plenty of times that I was drenched in sweat over something in my office just wishing for the best air conditioning. I finally did get that fantastic air conditioning toward the end of my career when I got to corporate. The corporate offices I worked out of even had zone controlled Heating and A/C machines. But after close to 3 decades of 60 to 75 hour work weeks, it was basically time to leave it to the younger people. I retired and my fiance and I decided to buy a very nice old farm residence with some acreage. We actually made this purchase with the whole plan of doing our own lodging business. But we definitely chose a much scaled down and more nature based move. Instead of hotel rooms we are managing yurts these days. They are basically a sort of permanent tent structure on a platform. For the quality heating and air element, we chose to have ductless mini splits in all of the units. This has worked out beautifully as the Heating and A/C machine supplier made short work of upgrade and bang, we are doing business. The guests we host are the most amazing people and care about the yurt experience a great deal. And they have all raved about the heating and cooling machine comfort inside the yurt from the ductless heat pump. This is easily a slower pace but the essence of hospitality that I have missed for all this time.
