I realize that this sounds a little bit crazy, but I ended up marrying an HVAC technician two different times over the past ten years.
Neither time ended well, either! I don’t know if guys who work as HVAC technicians just aren’t great husband material, or what. Whatever the reason, I just had two really bad experiences with these guys. I thought that they were both really selfish and it’s like they were addicted to their jobs. I mean, I think that it’s important to work hard at your job, but I don’t think that you should be so addicted to your job that you can’t work on your marriage or on anything else. That’s the point that we got to each time. Both of my husbands would bring their work home with them, so to speak. They were constantly talking about furnaces, air conditioning systems, air purifiers, radiant heated flooring, and all of the other boring things that come along with the heating and cooling industry. I kept telling both of them that I didn’t want to hear about their HVAC jobs, but they just wouldn’t listen to me. They always droned on and on about their work, and I just got to the point where I couldn’t stand it anymore. I just couldn’t deal with it and eventually, both of my marriages ended up falling apart. I blame the HVAC profession, but I’m sure that I had a little bit to do with it, too. If I get married again, it definitely won’t be to another HVAC technician, that’s for sure.
