The Air Filters Come by the Crate During the Holidays

Our family is just super into the holiday spirit.

  • It pretty much permeates the house starting mid October.

I have never considered Halloween a holiday but my kids changed all of that. They taught me that when the HVAC cooling system turns off for the year, it’s time to be thinking about Halloween. Then, it simply a perfect transition to Thanksgiving and then to Christmas and New Years. We pretty much go all out. After Halloween, I normally do two HVAC tasks every year about the same time. First, I call the HVAC heating and cooling company we have used for the last 15 years. I call to make an appointment to get and HVAC tech out to service the heat pump. The heat pump, by that time of year, has been running hard for nearly 6 months. It’s the perfect time to get it looked at so it will be in great shape when I flip the switch to HEAT. The other thing I do for the HVAC at that time of year is to go buy a couple of cases of HVAC air filters. There is a very specific reason I load up on the air filters during the holiday season. The answer is the paraffin wax. Let me elaborate a bit. My wife goes straight cathedral number of candles as soon as the calendar flips to November. There are literally about a hundred candles going throughout the downstairs rooms on any given evening. I love it. It makes for such a great but cozy atmosphere. There is nothing quite like candle light to put a person in the holiday mood. However, that many candles burning simply pumps paraffin wax into the air. Guess where all that candle was ends up. You got it, the air filter.
