Readying for Wintertide starts now

So where I live, all of us are still sort of experiencing actually Spring appreciate weather.

It’s almost July however all of us still are getting down to the upper 50’s at night.

The air conditioner hasn’t come on yet although I flipped the temperature control over to HVAC cooling a month ago. I’m still not exactly sure why all of us have central air conditioner in our lake house anyway. Well, I think why indeed and it’s because my fiance pretty much demanded it. When all of us sold our aged site, she was adamant that the new lake house would have central air conditioner to go along with the gas furnace. The people I was with and I also have a wood stove in our beach house that supplements the gas furnace in the winter. The wood stove also acts as an emergency measure if the power is out and the snow is too deep to service it suddenly. That’s something I’ve regularly made sure of. HVAC heating is actually nice and I appreciate the gas furnace. But I also rest a lot better at night knowing I can crank the wood stove. That insurance doesn’t come without effort. And I have to start on that Wintertide prep now. We’re fortunate to have regularly lived on some land. This spot has 20 acres that are ours. I appreciate to use downed trees as much as possible for heating fuel in the winter. But those downed trees don’t cut themselves up and stack neatly on the back porch. I’m slowing down some now so my grandson helps myself and others out a bit. And all of us even have log splitter instead of the big maul I’ve used since I was nearly her age. So there isn’t a lot of time in the air conditioner for myself and others this summer.
