I make an hour workout a part of my daily routine.
I consider exercise as essential as brushing my teeth, washing my hair and eating healthy.
By taking good care of my muscles and joints, working my heart and lungs and maintaining my ideal weight, I hope to age more gracefully. I’d like to enjoy a good quality of life and continue my favorite activities. I want to be able to play with my grandkids, tackle home improvement projects and travel. My goal is to avoid trips to the doctors, surgeries and prescription medication. I don’t understand people who are conscientious about changing the oil in their car but don’t take care of their bodies. It is possible to purchase a new car, but we only get the one body. It needs to last as long as possible. I start my workout with a very thorough warm up. I take the time to stretch my muscles and work on range of motion. I then focus on high intensity aerobics for anywhere from thirty to forty minutes. I might go for a run, ride my bike, jump rope or go through jumping jacks, burpees and mountain climbers. I always include some type of strength training. Sometimes I concentrate on my arms by way of weight lifting or push-ups. Sometimes I focus on my legs and go through squats and lunges. I like to add in static holds and work on balance. I finish the workout with a more intensive stretch. Afterward, I always feel energized and in a positive mood.
