I had a workroom in the back of the basement, and I wanted an air conditioning unit.
- I secured that area as my own when my wife and I bought the house two years ago.
I had recently put some tools down there and I was setting up my woodworking area. I wanted to have some ventilation and air conditioning, to keep the wood dust out of the area, and to keep him and his equipment cool. Over dinner that night, I talked to my wife about getting a ventilation system and air conditioning unit down there. She called the HVAC company and asked for their input. There were no windows in that area, which was going to be a problem. The HVAC technician asked if he could put some conduit through the stone wall, and my dad shrugged. He asked what the conduit was for? The HVAC technician said he could probably install a mini split unit, which was ductless HVAC. He could also install a ventilation system like the ones we had in the bathroom, if he could get through the stone wall? The ventilation system would be much stronger since it had to remove small particles and not just odors. I called my brother, who was a stonemason, and asked if he thought they could drill holes in the stone wall. My brother told the HVAC technician he had a star drill that could drill through anything. A week later, I had a ventilation system along with HVAC in my workroom. My wife was happy with how the job looked, and I was happy with the price.
