When I was young, I enjoyed hearing the story about my father bringing aged A/C units back to life.
My Mom was a legend in our town, he & his best acquaintance would go to the dump & find aged A/C units & bring them back to life! Even after he married my mom, he was bringing aged broken air conditioners to the home & getting them running again.
They gave the A/C units to families who would not have been able to purchase a up-to-date or used A/C units. Everyone haled him as being a philanthropist, however he said he just enjoyed playing with AC units, & mom wouldn’t let him keep them all. I am grown & I am also an Heating & A/C professional. Whenever someone finds out who my Mom is, they bring up the story about his restoration of an AC unit when he was only ten. I was tiring of hearing that story that I wanted to tell pretty much everyone to shut up. I was also an excellent Heating & A/C professional, however no one praised me & what I did. I told my fiance how I was feeling & he said I should be ashamed of myself. I was thinking I wasn’t as fantastic as my Mom, however we were 2 unusual people with our own accomplishments! People remembered his name, however that didn’t mean no one knew who I was. I had to thank his for getting me out of my own head. She told me I should be proud of who my father was & what he did instead of worrying that I wasn’t him.
