Growing up, I didn’t have a nice, big home like some of my classmates did.
In fact, I almost always had to settle for the generic brand of just about everything, my clothes were mainly hand-me-downs, and even though I was a video game enthusiast, I had to wait until games went on sale or I had to buy them used.
However, even though I wasn’t particularly happy about this when I was a child, it did teach me humility and being grateful for what you have. I’ll never forget when my college basketball team went to go play an away game at a very fancy and prestigious university. I do not remember this event in my life for the reason that you probably think I would remember it. Let me explain. We may have lost the game, but the locker room experience left a great impression on me. It was the first time that I’ve ever been exposed to radiant heated flooring. I walked into the locker room which was spacious, well-furnished, and had its own bathroom and shower stalls. However, the most striking thing was the comforting warmth emanating from the floor. I felt so cozy in there, I didn’t even want to leave for the game. After that experience, I vowed that if I ever made a significant amount of money, I would eventually invest in radiant heated flooring for my own bathroom. Heck, I even wanted radiant heated flooring for my entire house if I could afford it! The thing is, even though it would be expensive to install, heating from the floor up is actually very energy efficient compared to more traditional HVAC systems.
