When I joined HVAC college, I was sure about my career.
Most of my former high school friends had gone to college hoping to discover something they love.
But, thankfully, this happened when I was still in high school. A friend of my dad is an HVA C technician and he owns his own business. We got to chat one day when he had come by for Sunday dinner with his family. After that, I worked for him 2 summers in a row and saw that I was really good with repairing HVACs. I had to go to college to warm my HVAC certification since this is a requirement for every HVAC technician. School wasn’t too bad and I still worked part time for my dad’s friend. After graduation, I chose to find work at a different HVAC company since I wanted to gain more experience. There is another HVAC company near our area that had a vacancy so I sent in my resume. I was delighted to pass the interview and get a job offer. Work was good because I had another HVAC technician act as my guide and show me the ropes of working in this new company. The customers were delightful and all seemed to be going well. That is until that first year of the pandemic when the world came to a halt. I was let go from my job as my boss was trying to implement Covid protocols. It’s not fun at all having to find a new job, and I felt so bad. Gladly, my dad’s friend did have a vacancy and I got the position after a short interview.
