When I moved away from the city, I thought I was leaving all my friends behind.
I was tired of the city, and I needed a change of scenery.
After six months, I bought a house in the middle of a field, and I needed to have the furnace checked. I had become friends with the people who owned the nearest house, and she told me about the local HVAC technician. She said he did excellent work, and there was only him and one other technician who worked in this area. I thought it was a small HVAC company, but she disagreed. She said they had about twenty HVAC technicians in the company. Only the two of them will come this far out of the city to work on their HVAC systems. No one minded paying them a mileage fee because they were so good at their jobs. I called the HVAC company and asked for them to send someone out to service my furnace. When the man got out of the service van, I knew he looked familiar, but I didn’t know any HVAC technicians. When I heard him knock and opened the door, I couldn’t help but smile. My oldest friend was standing on the other side of the screen door. I hugged him so hard, we both nearly fell, and then we laughed. He asked when I moved here at the same time I asked when he became an HVAC technician. Half an hour later, he was calling the HVAC company and telling them he was going to be a bit late, and he would explain when he got back. He said he didn’t have any other customers to see, but I knew we would spend a lot more time together.
