After handling several a/c repair emergencies, I decided it was time to replace the air conditioning system.
I had already become a familiar face at the air conditioning company, located on my way home from work.
I always made physical appointments with my assigned a/c rep, which cost me nothing, but I expected that an in-home consultation would be charged. The cost of a/c care was no longer making sense, so I knew it was time to make an a/c install replacement, but I did not know about heating and cooling products. I hoped it would be an easy process when the a/c workman told me they’d do a free home consultation for the replacement. I was informed that the talk would include an in-depth inspection of the HVAC unit to understand the problem and see if there were other options we could implement in place of a total replacement. My home was a fixer-upper that I had bought from a couple that had done renovations, so I hadn’t made any home improvements. I needed new quality HVAC equipment because what I had was on its deathbed. Their recommendation was to upgrade to the dual fuel system, with a SEER rating of 14-16. They explained what those terms meant to me and why they’d be an advantage for my home, so I didn’t have to do my research. I also got additional information on features like the best programmable thermostat and air conditioning filter. They had the washable filter and the disposable one for air purification, but the decision was on me. I chose the washable option because I needed a break from buying a/c products. For all the information I got during the in-home consultation, I’m still impressed that there were no charges for them.
