When I called the HVAC company last week, I told them I wanted a new air conditioning unit.
The woman who answered the phone put me on hold until she could get an HVAC technician to talk to me. When the man got on the phone, he asked what I was looking for? I told him I wanted an energy efficient unit. I had heard that some AC units had an energy efficiency rating of 20 and higher. I wanted something with a high energy efficiency rating. He asked me to hold for a minute. He must have pulled out some information, but he was talking about furnaces. I wasn’t interested in purchasing a furnace. I wanted an air conditioning unit. I don’t know if he wasn’t listening to what I said, or if he was talking to someone else, but he was asking them for information on high efficiency furnaces. I had to say something three times before he directed the conversation back to me. When I knew I had his attention, I told him I wanted an air conditioning unit, and not a furnace. He told me it was winter, like I didn’t know what season it was. There was snow on the ground, and the temperature was in the low thirties. I wanted to order my air conditioning unit now, because when I bought the furnace, it took six weeks for it to be delivered. I didn’t want it to be ninety degrees before the air conditioning unit was delivered and installed. He apologized and said he should have realized I meant AC when I told him I wanted something with a high SEER rating.
