Job transfer to the last frontier has me scared and worried

I’ve been waiting many months for my boss to finally give me a solo project.

I’ve paid my dues and put in a lot of extra hours.

I saw one of my co-workers get promoted before me, and I tried not to take it personally. I thought the time would never come, until last Friday. My boss pulled me into the office on Friday afternoon and gave me the great news. He finally had a solo project for me to head. I was excited when he explained the project, which was going to be supervising the building of a cannery. It was a strange job, because we don’t have many calories in the area. As I continue to listen to my boss, I realized that he said the job was in the Last Frontier state. Stopped my boss from talking, and I asked him if he could repeat the location one more time. He told me not to worry about the cold temperatures. He was going to set me up with a very nice condo only 3/4 of a mile away from the job site. I would also have a company car, and I could choose any make and model in our company car selection. My biggest fear is the cold temperatures. I’m going to be in the area when it’s 20 or 30 degrees outside all day. It’s a big change from my normal weather. The boss promised the condo would have a nice furnace that was working well. He even told me that the condo would be furnished and warm and ready when I arrived. Even though the freezing cold temperatures have me worried and scared, knowing that the place will have a new furnace makes me feel better.
