It really does seem like every other sentence out of my mouth has something to do with cost.
My kids needed new shoes and were ordering some online. They came to show me and get me to order them while I was relaxing inside the central air conditioning of our home. I love that the kids can shop online but it’s me or their mother that completes the order. That’s the rule. Instead of getting into how excited the girls were about the new shoes, all I wanted to know was what they cost. This has been a common theme during all the financial tribulations that we’ve endured because of the pandemic and then all the inflation. It’s like we have less money for things like heating and cooling bills that have skyrocketed. It really does make me a bit crazy and I’m really sick of having to watch every penny that we spend. My wife and I both work really hard inside the commercial HVAC of our respective offices. But our paychecks have not kept up with the increased costs as well as the pay cuts we took to keep our jobs during the pandemic. So too often, most everything comes down to price and how little I can pay for something. This was also the case when it came to the fact that our HVAC equipment broke down. I have not been committed to HVAC maintenance and I’m sure that that’s what led to the heating and cooling breakdown. And my awareness and over focus on money lured me into thinking that I could get a handyman to do the HVAC repair. Luckily, my wife stepped in and put a stop to that. The heating and cooling of our home is far too important to be another casualty of cost cutting in our home.
