My wife was right, it was so stinky down in my man cave.
It’s not that I don’t clean up down there or anything like that.
The reason for the odors were definitely related to the fact that myself and my buddies enjoy smoking cigars down there. I chose to turn half of my basement into a man cave last year. I was sick of being run out of the central air conditioning of the living room when the game was on. But with a house full of girls, I was always having to go elsewhere to enjoy my sports. The man cave was not that tough to put together to be perfectly honest. The toughest part was simply putting up the drywall after we put up a few interior walls to close the space off. I then called the HVAC company to have them come out and install a ductless heat pump so we had some heating and cooling in the new space. That ductless heat pump does not do anything when it comes to controlling the odors down there. As good as the ductless heat pump is at producing the heating and cooling that I need in the man cave, it does nothing but intensify the cigar odors. My wife said she was actually smelling it upstairs and that’s when I knew I needed to do something to correct the problem. I once again turned to the HVAC professionals and they gave me the solution in a portable air purifier. This thing sits in the middle of the room and basically pulls out all the airborne contaminants and cigar smoke from the air in my man cave. I could not believe the difference that air purifier made the very first time I turned it on.
