Long ago, I was working for a local HVAC company in my hometown. This was when most people began adding modern heating and cooling units in their homes. The demand for HVAC work grew rapidly as the HVAC industry found ways to make heating and cooling units more accessible. My boss was overwhelmed and he kept trying to meet the rising demand. For the 5 years I worked at the HVAC company, I got to gain so much experience. I learned all about installation, maintenance, and repair for both heating and cooling units. I also got to know the different types of HVAC units in the market, and actually work on them. In year 5 at the company, I felt I wanted to venture out on my own. So, I started working as an independent HVAC technician in another area. It took a bit of time for people to warm up to me, but soon I had a consistent list of customers. Then, about 2 years later, I set up my own HVAC business and hired 3 HVAC technicians. Demand for reliable HVAC work was high so we were all busy. It’s been 5 years since I set up my own business, and this past summer I took my first long vacation with my family. Before, we’d only be away for a few days then I was back at work. But, I had been training a guy called Harry to manage the company if I was away. He was in charge of the HVAC business while I took a one month long vacation with my family and he did a splendid job of keeping the boat afloat.
