I experience a fear every year as winter draws near.
I am aware of how brutal winters can be but I always strive to make it seem like it’s nothing.
This year was no different and I was caught off guard by the tremendous blizzard that slammed our neighborhood. Due to the intense snowfall, many people were told to stay home and schools were closed down. The snow started to build up on my central heating and air conditioning system. I didn’t think too much about it. The blizzard passed and all of a sudden my HVAC unit started to make a noise. I had a hunch that the snow’s weight had stressed the fan’s motor, forcing it to spin at an unnaturally high speed. I prayed that when the snow would melt, the issue would just disappear. Thankfully, the noise problem did go away once the snow melted but I couldn’t help but feel glad that I didn’t have to contact the heating and cooling company. I really didn’t want to see an HVAC specialist working on the unit. Also the repairs, I didn’t want to spend money on them as well. But all good things come to an end and the strange noise came back due to the HVAC system being pretty dirty. The HVAC unit built up a layer of grime. The fan and motor started to malfunction and at that moment I knew I had to contact the HVAC company. The heating and cooling specialist arrived promptly and did a cleaning. After the cleaning, everything was great again with no noise. I know going forward I need to take better care of the HVAC unit and definitely have maintenance on it.
