There is nothing worse than taking something apart and putting it back together, only to find out that you ended up with extra pieces when you were done.
When I tried to fix my air conditioner last week, this is exactly what happened.
I happen to be a pretty handy guy, so when my air conditioner stopped working, I never even thought about calling an HVAC technician to fix it. My wife simply told me that the air conditioner was broken, and I dedicated one afternoon to fixing the HVAC unit so that she could be comfortable again. I started by taking the air conditioner apart piece by piece. As I was removing the parts to the air conditioner, I was trying to look for broken pieces that would give me a clue as to why the air conditioner wasn’t working. Finally, I found a circuit board on the air conditioner that looked like it had been fried. I ordered a new circuit board online, and I had to wait a few days to fix the air conditioner. Meanwhile, I stored the air conditioner and all the parts in my garage. Finally, when the circuit board came, I installed it into the air conditioner and put the whole thing back together again. To my dismay, when I added the last piece, I found that I had forgotten to put several screws in the air conditioner. I couldn’t figure out where they went, and I didn’t want to take it apart again. I plugged in the air conditioner, and it worked. I decided to store the screws until the air conditioner broke again.
