When I was younger, I never thought of the boiler room being where all of the apartment heating came from.
I thought the boiler room was a place for fun.
I remember having my thirteenth birthday celebration in the basement. Mom and dad promised to let us unchaperoned as long as the lights stayed on. My buddy and I were dancing, and some of us were playing seven minutes in heaven with the ladies. No one knew what you were supposed to be doing in the boiler room for seven minutes, except kissing, however most of the ladies thought that was disgusting at our age. Now that I’m older, I know exactly what the boiler room is. It is where it is too cramped to work on the heater, however where you have to be if the boiler is broken. I didn’t know how several people had boiler rooms, however someone forget to consider the added space needed for the Heating, Ventilation & A/C contractor when he arrived. Being an Heating, Ventilation & A/C and an oversized one, means I need even more room. I am six feet six inches and padded with 300 pounds of muscle. Any small area is a pain, however when the boiler room is barely giant enough for the heater, I can’t get in there. I had to call the Heating, Ventilation & A/C company and have them send one of our smallest men to a apartment last week. I opened the door and was feeling claustrophobic even before walking in. They sent Cheryl to help. She was five feet tall and didn’t weigh 100 pounds soaking wet, and she still had trouble working in the boiler room.
