Work had been rough the past couple of weeks.
Our boss seems to be making deadlines tighter and tighter and demanding higher and higher work quotas.
I understand that it’s a busy time of year for us, but I feel like he is pushing us too hard. I’m one of those employees with a can do attitude, and I’m pretty proud of the fact that I almost always get the job done on time. However, even I was praying for a break of some sort. That break came Wednesday shortly after lunch, when we returned to our office to find that the air conditioning had entirely shut down. It did not take long at all for our office to be very hot and sweaty, as it is late summer. We trudged through the rest of the day, as miserable as can be, hoping that an HVAC company would come soon. Our boss seemed unsure of when this HVAC problem would be resolved. An HVAC technician never came, but he still told us to come into work the next day. When we arrived the next morning, there was still no A/C at all, and by noon, we were downright angry that we were working in such conditions. Right before we all went to find the boss to demand that we be allowed to leave, he came in shortly before lunch to announce it was time to go home in a manner that suggested he was annoyed that we showed up in the first place. You know what? I hope that A/C doesn’t get fixed for a good long time, so I can enjoy some time off at home with my own air conditioning!
