AC units need to be able to hold up to winds

My air conditioner was crumpled and I knew it had not survived this storm.

I know that I live in an area where the weather is quite changeable. It is always hot and humid and in the afternoon, we are prone to fast and furious storms. It can be calm at one time and ten minutes later it is dark, the wind is whipping and we are experiencing a violent thunderstorm. I love the rain since I know that I have an air conditioning unit that will hold up to the fury of the storm. It is such a comforting feeling to be inside the house watching Mother Nature unleashing all of her anger, while I am still inside enjoying my air conditioning. Even if the power goes out, when it comes back on, my air conditioner comes right back on with it. The other week, I was sitting in the house when I saw lightning hit a tree. The tree toppled and landed right on top of my air conditioning unit. I was afraid to go outside and look at it when the storm finally ended. My air conditioner was crumpled and I knew it had not survived this storm. I called the HVAC company to see if it could be revived or to order a new air conditioning unit. I then called my insurance company and asked if they were able to cover the damage. I know that I will need to have the air conditioning unit replaced, but it would sure be nice if my homeowner’s insurance would help to cover some of the cost. This is the first time this has happened, so I’m not sure what will happen.
