Back when I was in high school, there wasn’t any air conditioning at all in any of the buildings. It was a long time ago, but as far as I can tell, there hasn’t been very much of a giant step forward in HVAC usage throughout the school systems around here in the last couple of years. The school that’s close to me still uses an ancient boiler system for heating in the winter and there still isn’t any air conditioning at all in the building. I personally think that it’s terrible that the kids have to go to school in the heat of the summer, without having any way to cool off at all. It’s really tough to try and pay attention in class as it is. Can you imagine trying to sit in a hot classroom after lunch when you are tired anyway? It’s just not conducive to a good learning environment, if you ask me. I don’t understand why the school board doesn’t actually do something about the heating and cooling systems at the schools. I know that the board of education has enough money to get new heating and cooling systems installed at the schools, especially at the high school. I feel like they should definitely not be having the same issues now at the schools that I used to have to deal with back when I was a teenager all of those years ago. It should really be better by now. I don’t have a kid in the high school right now, but by the time mine gets there I am going to make sure that the HVAC systems have been updated!
