Bee extermination is one of those professional fields that you probably never think about getting into.
Back when I was growing up, I never really thought about bees as a line of work.
I mean I was always interested in bees when I was a kid, and my favorite chapter in my biology book was about bees and their hives, but other than that I never really cared about bees very much. However, when I got out of college for this summer one year, I was looking for a job and the only one that was available near my home was a position with a bee eradication and rescue service. At first, I did not think that I was gonna like this job at all. I had no idea what the eradication and rescue even was at that point. I thought it was some sort of beekeeping service, and I wasn’t at all interested in beekeeping or in honey. However, when I showed up at the bee eradication and rescue service to put in my application, the guy who was the owner was really cool. We struck up a conversation and we ended up talking for about an hour about bees and why they are so important to our environment and to our livelihood. Once he explained to me what the bee eradication and rescue service actually involved, I decided to give the summer job a try. Now, here I am, almost five years later, and I am still working at the same place. Now, I’m a partner at the business, and I really love it.
