Although I make an effort to eat healthy, I am not always good about it. I usually eat mostly fruits and fresh or frozen vegetables. I don’t drink coffee or eat red meat and avoid processed foods. I normally have a banana for breakfast. For lung, I mix blueberries and strawberries into yogurt. I have trouble at dinner. I really like pasta, potatoes, cheese and all types of bread. I am tempted by sweets. I enjoy baking cookies, cakes, pies and muffins. Then I end up eating way too much of them. I’m also a lover of ice cream. Since I don’t want to put on weight, I make sure to burn off the extra calories. My workout sessions are built around high intensity cardio training. While I set aside some time for strength training, I focus nearly the entire hour of my morning working on elevating my heart rate, getting my lungs working and causing a good sweat. I work to the point of breathlessness and exhaustion. I’ve learned that jumping rope is a really strenuous workout. I bought a set of jump ropes that include ropes of various weights and I alternate between them. I blast music during my exercise sessions to help with motivation. I jump for the length of a song. I breathe, get a sip of water, towel off the sweat then start jumping again with the next son. I’ve increased my level of stamina so that I can jump rope for an entire hour. I’ve read that an average sized person can burn approximately ten calories per minute jumping rope. For a change of pace, I might go for a six-mile run. I strive to increase pace and distance and hope to beat my personal best. During the summer, I love swimming laps, treading water or doing water aerobics. The water increases resistance and makes for an especially effective workout.
