About a year ago, my husband and I had the opportunity to purchase several really nice rental properties that are located in Clearwater Beach.
August arrived and we had a terrible tropical storm.
Most of the properties were severely damaged. It took us a couple of weeks to be able to get out to the properties and assess the damage. We knew that it was going to be difficult to rebuild the properties. We called our insurance company and asked them to come out and give us an estimate on the damage. The insurance adjuster gave us a list of building contractors that are located in Clearwater Beach. He told us we didn’t need to choose one of these contractors but it did give us a place to start out. We had no idea who to talk to so we called a couple of the smaller contracting companies and set up appointments to give us some estimates. We asked that the estimates be put into writing so we would be able to compare them to each other and have the ability to pick out which one we wanted to use. We not only looked at the estimates, but we narrowed them down by online reviews and complaints. We found several really good contractors in the Clearwater Beach area. A couple were noted in the Better Business Bureau. We knew we had to make a decision soon because we also knew we weren’t going to be able to rent the properties until they are repaired. I think it is going to take awhile to narrow down to one Clearwater Beach contractor, but that decision is getting closer.
