I have friends who are native to the area that still can’t get into the winter at all. The winters here are indeed tough. It uses the earths near constant underground temperature to extract heating and cooling energy. This type of HVAC is definitely more expensive with regard to immediate costs. However, the beauty of this system is both longevity and efficiency. A geothermal HVAC system saves a very significant amount on the utility bill using the earth as the main source of heating and cooling. Additionally, the geothermal HVAC will last nearly twice as long as a conventional central air unit. That is a lot of years to be reaping the benefits of utility savings.
