Duct tape is probably the most ironic product ever.

I was doing some research on duct tape the other day, and I think that duct tape is very ironic.

Duct tape, formerly known as Duck Tape, was created during WWII to fix guns and other stuff during battle.

However, the military began using this tape to quickly fix many other things and products, one of them being ductwork for furnaces. This eventually resulted in the product being renamed as duct tape, which is ironic because duct tape works for nearly everything besides ducts for a furnace. If you think that you could fix your furnace with duct tape, you are definitely wrong. A recent study of duct tape along with other types of the tape reveals this. They tested a whole bunch of different types on the ductwork of a furnace. They tried all sorts of different temperatures to try to heat the tapes, and there was only one tape that consistently failed to fix the ductwork of a furnace. That tape was duct tape. This tape is not able to withstand the heat created by your heating system. Either the tape would fail to stick on the ductwork, or the tape would dry and crack, causing it to fall off. Either way, if you are trying to seal or fix the ductwork for your furnace, duct tape is not the product. Do some research to figure out what product is right for you or call an HVAC technician to ask for his advice. HVAC technicians should be able to point you in the right direction when it comes to your ductwork.
