Ductless Mini Split System For Our Finished Basement

In order to increase the value of our home, we decided to transform our unfinished basement into a finished one.

It wasn’t that big, but we wanted to add to the square footage and create another living space and bathroom.

Our kids were getting older, so one of them was bound to ask for their own room, and we currently didn’t have any extra rooms. In the meantime, we wanted to finish the space and use it as an extra living room. We thought our kids could hang out down there with their friends instead of lingering in our current living room, which would give everyone some more privacy and space. Instead of having our HVAC system extended into our finished basement for thousands of dollars, we decided to try something different. We’d found out about the ductless mini split HVAC systems while we were doing research online, and it seemed too good to be true. Everything we read said that a ductless mini split system was perfect for adding heat and air to one specific room without extending ductwork. There would be one unit hung onto any wall of our choice, and then it would heat and cool the basement with a push of a button. We loved that we had so much control! We could turn on the heat or the air conditioning, and we could select which temperature we wanted. The ductless mini split system would run as long as we kept it on, and it wouldn’t take that long to heat and cool our basement.
