Back when I was in high school I was in a group of friends that I thought would stick together through thick and thin no matter what.
I have come to learn that these high school friendships hardly ever last as long as we would like to think.
Having these three people as my best friends was what helped me get through high school in one piece, however once we all went our separate ways for college we quickly lost touch and haven’t spoken since our high school reunion. Years later I went on to join my father’s business working as a certified HVAC repair tech for a living. Only a couple of months ago a new HVAC company set up shop in town which was rather strange since we had grown used to being the only one for the past couple of years. After doing some research to find who these new HVAC competitors were, I ended up learning that the owner of the new HVAC company was none other than Jared, one of my best friends from high school! I had no idea that he had made his way into the HVAC industry or even had any interest in it for that matter. Now with my old friend back in town I am going to make sure to catch up with him soon and maybe go back to being the best of friends like we were in our high school days. In all honesty I just hope that we can rekindle our friendship without it being awkward considering the competitive nature of our work in HVAC.
