There are plenty of reasons out there to not pay attention to the small things that are actually quite important.
My quest has to not let those multitude of reasons become an excuse for not paying attention to my responsibilities. And that is especially true for stuff around the house like the HVAC. I think there are plenty of us out there who take modern heating and cooling for granted. It’s not a knock on anybody but rather a bit of a truth. And that’s because most of us have grown up with great air conditioning throughout our lives. Quality heating and air are just almost expected. That’s not quite the way it is for me. But that’s because I spent several years in a region of the world where modern HVAC is not common. In fact, when you could find any sort of cooling system, it was normally an evaporative cooler. And those are nothing like the cooling that comes out of the heat pump or central air conditioning in an American home. Living like that will really instill an appreciation for the wonderful air conditioning that we all get to experience. So that’s one of the big reasons why I pay special attention to the HVAC unit in my home. My monthly attention allow it to run at its maximum efficiency and without strain. And it sure doesn’t take all that much either. Simply changing the air filter each month and making sure there are no air flow obstructions is all the HVAC really requires. I’m simply not going to allow anything to keep me from that simple of a routine.
