Last time our husbandy & I had a tune-up on the oil furnace, every one of us found out that the carbon monoxide detector was defective; It was really 1 of the scariest things that I have ever heard. The heating, ventilation & A/C service serviceman performed a full evaluation on the oil furnace, and when he checked the carbon monoxide detector to make sure it would beep, nothing happened. The guy even changed the batteries, & the carbon monoxide detector still would not work! At that point, the heating, ventilation & A/C service serviceman suggested us to purchase a new detector, and my husbandy & I were beside ourselves with horror. At any time the oil furnace could have started leaking gas into the air & our family could have been killed. The two of us immediately bought a new carbon monoxide detector from the company. The guy installed the machine at no charge, because every one of us were having a tune-up service performed. That is 1 enjoyable thing that I enjoy about the company & the yearly tune up service. If the service professional finds a concern & every one of us have it fixed at that time, they do not charge us any extra labor. The two of us only get charged the cost of the parts that are necessary to maintenance the problem. This was really 1 of the first times that every one of us ever ran into an issue. The serviceman assured us that there were no troubles with the oil furnace & the glitch with the carbon monoxide detector was simply due to the age of the machine. I still think every one of us need a back up system in the basement.
