I gave up comfort to pay my bills.

I know that it is a bit difficult at the time, but I know that we can get through this.

I keep reminding myself that we aren’t in this alone: this pandemic is affecting the entire world.

I was suddenly wishing I had put more money into my savings so I had something to fall back on. I had no idea when I would be going back to work. I guess we all had some really bad spending habits too. My wife loved going on shopping trips with our daughter. Even if the malls were open, this was going to need to be curtailed. I had to give up on my gourmet coffee. I think the hardest thing we had to adjust to was how much we depended on our HVAC system. We were suddenly setting the thermostat higher than what we normally would. My daughter was complaining about how warm it was in her room. I told her if she touched the thermostat I would take it out. I don’t want to be mean to my family, but I need to get the energy bill under control. Our biggest energy hog is the air conditioning unit. By watching our thermostat settings, making sure the door is closed tightly, and turning off the AC in rooms not in use, I think we will be able to beat this pandemic. We’ll be taking control of our situation. It isn’t going to be easy, but I know we can do it. It sucks that we have to sacrifice our comfort and air quality, so we can survive a couple months, but it is doable.
