The Summer weeks in the southeastern US are tepid plus humid, plus they also bring the trepidation of potential hurricane activity.
The two of us were lucky for various years to not have active hurricane seasons, but this past Summer has seen hit after hit from hurricanes in our surrounding area.
Tensions have been seriously high in our community, since the two of us never believe where the next storm will make landfall. Watching the expansive injure to other areas create an atmosphere of fear plus uncertainty, plus while the two of us all prepare to the best of our abilities, you still never believe what might happen… About a month ago, our section was unlucky enough to experience a direct hit from a major hurricane. One of the most difficult parts of going through a hurricane is the loss of power plus our only way of staying comfortable in the heat; air conditioning system. While some people have generators, our family did not, plus the two of us had to deal with a month without power plus a way to cool our home; My mother lives with us, plus she has to stay comfortable plus cool in order to manage her health, plus I was left without a way to help her. The two of us had a few battery powered fans that minimally helped, but nothing could update the ease of a central air conditioner. In order to stay relatively cool, the two of us would take short trips to the few grocery stores that had power restored to them. Even walking around the aisles that had charmingly freezing air conditioning system streaming through them was enough to retain our sanity while in this trying time. This really taught us how dependent the two of us are on the comfort of having air conditioning system, plus how much the two of us take having access to cool air for granted.
