Working from home has certainly made me change my priorities.
I no longer jump out of bed, rush to the shower, slam down a cup of coffee and hit the road.
Instead I spend the day in my comfy clothes, listen to the birds outside my window and enjoy logging on to my worksite from my kitchen table. If I have a video meeting I attempt to make myself presentable and make my surroundings look as professional as possible with three young children running around the house. There has been another upside to this situation as well. I am able to schedule repairs being done around my house because I am always here. I no longer need to ask the boss for time off to meet a technician or repairman and so long as they are fairly quiet I can continue my workday as usual. My home has certainly benefited from my new work schedule. Just the other day I was able to have the HVAC company come in and not only perform routine maintenance but clean my ductwork as well. Most of this was done from the basement where they accessed the system so I barely heard a thing. What normally would have required my taking a personal day to have accomplished was done while I was still logged on to my office. I have decided that I could really come to like this whole working remotely lifestyle in many ways as I am sure others are discovering as well. Part of me also misses the day to day interaction with adults as well so I am also looking forward to returning to a somewhat normal existence too.
