I personally enjoy the winter season.
I agree with the statement that there is no bad weather, just bad clothing preparation.
It is easier to sleep in the winter too, I find. The season obviously also contains a few of the major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve). I have personally lived in places where there are no winters, and it is fine, and there are obviously advantages that go with never going near or below freezing, but there are bad sides to it too, and that is probably something almost anybody would agree with who has experienced both winter-free seasons, as well as climates that do have a winter. But there is definitely one aspect of living in a climate that has a winter that is of key importance no matter what, and that is making sure that the HVAC system in one’s home is up to scratch, well maintained, and at least relatively modern. It pays to fulfil these requirements for all kinds of reasons: comfort, health, energy efficiency (both in terms of cost and energy conservation), protection against sudden upfront maintenance costs, and property damage. Needing a heater repair during the dead of winter is never a good idea. Needing a safe, clean, efficient and effective HVAC system is perhaps to some people one of the pitfalls of living in a cold climate. However, my feeling is that it is simply the price for being able to enjoy all the good things that come with the winter season. Meanwhile it seems pretty simple to try and make sure one’s heating system is ready for winter. All it takes is preparedness and knowing what to do.
