I love shopping at a local market for as many of my grocery items as possible.
I prefer to avoid the large and busy grocery store chains.
There are just too many people coming and going every hour of the day. Sure, they might have great sales from time to time, but the extra money spent at the local market is worth avoiding the chain stores. The small market also gets products from local farmers like fresh meat and organic produce. It’s great to shop local and also know exactly where your food products are coming from. Unfortunately, sometimes when I need items from the health and beauty section, I just can’t find them anywhere other than the large chain stores. For instance, I try to avoid Walmart at all costs, but I’d be a liar if I said I never shop there. Sometimes I can’t find something local, online, or at a different department store or supercenter. I’m really fussy with what kind of hand lotion that I like. I get a lot of eczema and most hand lotion I find doesn’t actually improve my skin condition. It won’t replenish overly dry skin at all, but there is one particular brand that does. Sadly, this is something I’m forced to buy from Walmart. This week I’m doing most of my shopping between Walmart and another chain grocery store because my local market is getting repairs and renovations completed. They ordered a portable chiller system to use while they work on replacing their heating, cooling, and ventilation system. It’s old and they plan on upgrading the ductwork as well. The portable chiller gives them immediate on demand air cooling without using very much energy in the process. Hopefully the renovations don’t take longer than a week to complete, because I already miss my local market.
