My new roommate and I don’t agree about the thermostat

During the summer, the air conditioner is running at the highest temperature to keep the house freezing cold, and during the winter months, he barely wants to use the heating system to heat the house

I have been struggling with my new roommate, and I am not sure how long I will be able to get along with him before I am going to have to move. I am thankful that he doesn’t do drugs, drink, or invite and bad friends over, but still, there is the contention that will make this relationship deteriorate unless we figure out how to compromise. The problem is that we have completely different thoughts on how the thermostat should be set. I believe that all thermostats should be set at a moderate temperature. No matter what the season is, the thermostat should always be at 70 degrees. This means that during all seasons, I have either my air conditioner or my heating system working to keep the apartment at the perfect temperature. I have a thermostat that controls both the heating system and the cooling system so that it can turn either on depending on the need. I wish that my roommate were more moderate in his approach to temperature. He believes that everything should be cold in the house. During the summer, the air conditioner is running at the highest temperature to keep the house freezing cold, and during the winter months, he barely wants to use the heating system to heat the house. We have tried to discuss the problem, but we have resorted to just resetting the thermostat when each other is not looking. I want to find a compromise with the HVAC units so that we can both be happy, but I am not sure that he is willing to budge even a little. I might have to just move out.
