My parents are looking for a more energy efficient home to move into in the next year or so.
They have been talking about moving away from the house that we all grew up in for a while now, but it’s taken them quite some time to decide that they actually want to make it happen.
I am honestly shocked that they are actually seriously considering making it happen! I guess I just assumed that they would always live in that old house for the rest of their lives. However, recently, they have decided that they want to look for a more energy efficient home. The house that they live in now does not have really great insulation and the HVAC system is super old, too. I told my parents that they should just think about exchanging their old HVAC system for a newer, more energy efficient one, but they don’t seem to be interested in doing that. Instead, they say that they want to downsize and move completely. I guess that makes sense and so I told them that I would help them find a place that they really like. My mom says that she wants a wood burning fireplace in the new house, and my dad says that he would like to have a high efficiency heating and cooling system so that their heating and cooling bills will be much lower from now on. I guess after paying high costs for heating and air conditioning for so many years in the old house, it would be nice to have lower costs!
