My wife and I had a flat in the city and we lived there for 10 years before we decided to buy a house in the country.
I was excited about the house in the country, because I wanted a nice big backyard where we could grow fruits and vegetables.
After we went to the country, my wife continued to work in the city and commute every day. I quit my job and started growing fruits and vegetables in the backyard just like we planned. It took a long time to till the land and get the soil ready. I knew that it was going to be a big job, but I definitely underestimated all of the preparation work that would need to be done. It easily took about 2 months to prepare the soil and get things ready before I could get any seeds into the ground. Some of the first seeds that I planted were squash, tomatoes, beans, strawberries, and blueberries. When it was time to plan a second group of seeds, I ran into a couple of problems that slowed me down. It was just the beginning of Summer and very hot outside. Temperatures were in the 90s and the AC unit in the house stopped working. My wife and I had to find a new AC service provider and we did not know who to call. We didn’t really know anyone in the local area, so we had to look online and hope for the best. We found a local, small business owner that was available on a Saturday to help with the AC repair.
