New lodging business gets the perfect HVAC technology

I worked for almost 30 years in the hospitality business. There were so many hotels during my tenure that I can hardly get them all straight anymore. But one thing that they all offered were cramped office space with scant heating and cooling comfort. There were plenty of times that I was sweating over something in my office just wishing for good air conditioning. I finally did get that good air conditioning toward the end of my career when I got to corporate. The corporate offices I worked out of even had zone controlled HVAC. But after almost 3 decades of 60 to 80 hour work weeks, it was time to leave it to the younger crowd. I retired and my wife and I bought a nice old farmhouse with some acreage. We made this purchase with the idea of doing our own lodging business. But we chose a much scaled down and more nature based approach. Instead of hotel rooms we are managing yurts. They are basically a sort of permanent tent structure on a platform out in nature. For the quality heating and air element, we chose to go with ductless mini splits in all of the units. This has worked out just perfectly as the HVAC company made quick work of installation and bang, we were in business. The guests we host are lovely people and really enjoy the yurt experience. And they have all raved about the heating and cooling comfort inside the yurt from the ductless heat pump. This is sure a slower pace but the very essence of hospitality that I have missed.
