No reason to take chances with essential HVAC equipment

My dad was the sort of guy who was always spouting these sort of life axioms all the time.

Some of them were just dated and not relatable to anybody other than dad which made dad weirdly happy. But there were some things that he would say over and over that ended up sticking with me. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” comes to mind. And I think about this everytime I write the check for our HVAC service plan. I joined the HVAC service plan offered by our HVAC company several years ago. We replaced our HVAC unit with new HVAC equipment and I wanted to be sure the new HVAC technology that we paid so much for was taken care of. I also wanted to join the HVAC service plan so it wasn’t up to me to remember to call the HVAC company. I have never been great at remembering to call for heating maintenance in the fall and air conditioner tune-up in the spring. Being part of the service plan allows the HVAC company to schedule and I just confirm online. HVAC maintenance is simply an essential cost for any homeowner. The facts bear that out. HVAC equipment that doesn’t get consistent HVAC maintenance ends up failing, on average, 7 years sooner. That’s enough for me to keep writing the check to the HVAC company for that ounce or two of prevention that dad was always talking about. I’m thinking that with seasonal HVAC maintenance, we should have this HVAC equipment for 30 years.
